Apparently the head of the British Army thinks that our troops presence there could be making things worse!!!
Wont be long now before they work out that guns are bad:rolleyes:

Thats not strictly what he said - the media are misquoting him left, right and centre.
The beeb actually interviewed him this am and he specifically said that the soldiers are only "making it worse" in so far as being there gives insurgents a target to shoot at.....

To be honest when i heard his comments last night and now have heard him 'defend' his comments. I think like he says this has been a 'hoo ha'. He removed every bit of spin from the story.
"It was never my intention to have this hoo-ha which people have thoroughly enjoyed overnight in trying to suggest there is a chasm between myself as head of the Army and the prime minister or between myself as head of the Army and the secretary of state for defence," he said.
As soon as his comments were aired.. it was like someone had let all the air out of a baloon. The BBC commentators and the story seemed to go nowhere.. Seasoned journalists could not read the article as a whole and come to the same conclusions the general has said today. Creating a story out of nothing. No political editors spouting there usual bull.. it was all very funny and/but disheartning.

It seems like this whole thing *was* blown WAY out of proportion, lets face it, he wants Iraq finished. Who doesn't? Whether you supported the war or not, that's a fairly simple conclusion to come to.
