i am a self harmer and have been for seven years and until november 2011 i had no help. i still self harm quite bad but i cover up at work if cuts are fresh and i wait for them to scar or heal until i expose them. My arms are badly scared because of it and recently my employer has said it is compulsory for me to cover my arms due to my scars because a member of the public has said something.

i just want to know are they allowed to do this, because im not breaching health and safety in any way as i always cover fresh cuts until they have healed like i stated before. i have been working there for almost a year and have done the same since i started and i literally got told tonight i HAD to cover my arms and not have them on show.

its made me feel really down because im basically being told that i should be ashamed .... if you know what i meen

can anyone give me any information about what to do and if they are in the right to do so please

thanks very much :)

I know, it's not exactly globetrotting ...

I am travelling on Sunday to Stroud because I wanted to visit the Westonbirt Arboretum. Turns out there aren't any buses on Sunday and a taxi would cost a fortune (around £35 each way), which I simply can't afford. But I will be travelling to Stroud anyway since my train tickets are non-refundable(I checked the buses AFTER I booked the train - I am stupid, I know) .
My questions are: Does anyone know a cheap way to get to the Arboretum?
and
If not, what else can I do in Stroud? Are there any nice places to go to? Something "hippiesque"??

I really hope someone has an idea... :-) of course I will be searching the internet but I am always grateful for an insider tipp.

Thank you so much!

been posting some stuff, but in the main reading the site seeing what's going down. thought i should drop a hi in here (if nothing else just to boost post count and open the site up a bit ).
not sure what to post so a brief intro.
i work in education in a lab, pay is crap but the time off allows me time to do and go places. had an adventurous year escaped death twice once in a house fire/explosion and once in a motorway crash. its been an experience, even made the front page of local rag with the house. lost most of my stuff (including most of my studio equipment) and the motorway crash killed my old minibus
with the exception of loosing my cat i would say its been a positive experience (albeit a financially punishing one.)
since the bus destruction, (was rear ended and slammed into the central reservation at speed cant recommend ldv vans enough for survivability, still drove despite loosing the front end and am using it temporarily still with a Citroen van front on it).

the positive part of it all is my mum offered to replace my van, as i can't afford it i accepted and now have a horsebox i am converting to go back on the road (mum was not keen on encouraging me but after pointing out i spent the first few years of my life not living in formal accommodation and the fact i can't afford to live in a house and its making me really unhappy living in a house anyway, she agreed).
my aim is to have it at least warm and dry by October as this is my moving in date, would like to go earlier but my flat mates need more time to sort their shit out so i am stuck for a bit.

i'm here mostly to make friends/meet people and to see what i can learn (grew up working in a garage and worked for an engine research company, work in science and spent a lot of years doing electronics, so i may be of some help to others too, on that subject i have the cargo workshop manuals if any one needs specific info from them).
that's all for now i guess
x

Ok...so for quite a long time now I have been wanting to set up a project to offer support to girls suffering from PTSD after...

Ok...so for quite a long time now I have been wanting to set up a project to offer support to girls suffering from PTSD after abortion. There is nothing I can ever find offering this and it was something I so massively needed at the time and still do, yet my symptoms are never accepted and I am pretty much told they do not exist on a regular basis.

After another day of emotionally breaking down about it...I decided to begin to put this into practice by setting up a blog to post creative healing and stories and so forth on.
What I wanted to call the project is The Nevaya-Rose Project. This was because Nevaya-Rose is the name I gave my baby.

When i decided on that name its something that I thought was very beautiful. My sisters friend had had a baby girl called Nevaya spelt Neveah a few years previously and I thought it was beautiful. Actually i still do think it is beautiful.

Yet on researching it over the last few days I think Neveah has become the most hated name in America due to it increasing in popularity and some girl from that mtv show 16 and pregnant naming her baby it because it was an anagram of heaven so it has become a name associated with white trash. Now I dont really care what the average american thinks of the name i chose for my baby, Nevaya-Rose is what fitted with my heart at the time and I still think is a beautiful name. but I do wonder if naming my project after her will cause people to not take it seriously...or to associate abortion with white trash.

I was trying to think of a name to do with transformation...but to be honest nothing really fits well with me. And my heart and instinct wants to stick with the original plan of naming the project after the name I chose for my baby.

So what is in a Name?
Should I care about this?

I don't know

So long story short, Rosie is 19 and her 17 year old owner needs some help now she's at college.
Rosie is a 15hh strawberry roan.
Before Jess got her she had been left to go really out of condition and quite skinny. However Jess has known and ridden the horse for 8 yrs.
Vet and dentist have recently said she may well be older than 19.
She is a very rentle and wise character and she has such a story to tell.
She has foaled, she had her throat slit by thugsin her field when she lived up north and she has pulled bowtops to/at Appleby.
Now she needs TLC, pampering and bringing back into condition for some gentle hacking and semi-retirement.
Any of the horsey types have any thoughts?
For a contribution of £20 pw I can basically spend as much time at the yard with her as I like and ride her as she comes into fitness.
I have seen her feed room etc and I reckon with all the senior food and joint care supplements etc she must be eating 20 quids worth a day ;)
C can't do pics to here but I will on FB.....
