Woke up about 2am with this in my head, so I had to open up YouTube. I would have bought it (again), but neither iTunes nor Amazon seem to have it as a download. It still sounds good to me nearly fifty years after I first heard it. As far as hooks go, it seems to have more than its fair share and despite its eight-minutes-plus duration always seems to end too soon. The single version was shorter, I think, but didn't it have a fade and return in it? I am pretty sure Skip Bifferty were on John Peel's radio shows much more before they changed the band's name to Heavy Jelly (after a dispute and parting of the ways with manager, Don Arden - with whom one did not dispute), but this is still a great song. Graham Bell, Mick Gallagher and Alan Hull were just three people associated with the band who later became much better known though other projects.

i'm not an old-time hippy, just a young flower child, but i find this pretty track hippy on the ears. and i suppose a hippy would like it.
a mesmerising psychedelic experience indeed. i used to listen to it while picking strawberries at the farm down the road (dont worry, they did ask me to be there) i love the incredible string band, especially the first album with clive singing empty pocket blues, what a tidy tune. anyway...
