    Its great for carving if you let it dry out naturally with the bark on.

    The quality of the surface when a chainsaw is used has a lot to do with the nature and sharpness of the chain. If you ask someone really knowledgeable - Logosol certainly should be able to help. A chainsaw capable of cutting 24" in seasoned timber will cost a packet. Logosol's Big Mill might be suitable, though it is designed for ripping.

    Cost a packet is right, 1000+ unless you can borrow one off a tree surgeon mate.Cheapest option is the local sawmill.

    You can get a saw horse with a fixing point for a caiansaw. Keep yer chainsaw sharp and safe jobs a gud un but chain oils a bit of an issue perhaps
