I haven't felt this good since Archie Gemmill scored against Holland in 1978

Here we go again. meeting old mates from 20 years ago is something I'm doing all too often. Those who are still with us that is. Brilliant film.

This is the song from the second part of the trailer, and the lyrics...

Your broad shoulders, my wet tears
You're alive and I'm still here
    Some half human creature thing
Can you bring life to anything (ooh)

(Take this to make you better
    Though eventually you'll die)

If you don't love me, don't tell me
I've never asked who and I've never asked why
(It's such a shame, she use to be so delightful)

Well who's fault is that, if it wasn't mom and dad
    (Well it must be yours)
We'll have none of that (ooh)

    Just looking for a protector
God never reached out in time
There's love, that is a savior
That ain't no love of mine

My Love it kills me slowly,
    Slowly I could die
And when she sleeps she hears the blues
Sees shades of black and white

Got to stay cool you hot, hot head
Count to a thousand before you sleep in bed
Read the news, pass the time
    Drink the juice, feeling fine

Got to stay cool you hot, hot head
Count to a thousand before you sleep in bed
Read the news, pass the time
    Drink the juice, feeling fine

    (At least you're not boring)

No one wants to feel you this sad!

    Just looking for a protector
God never reached out in time
There's love, that is a savior
That ain't no love of mine

My Love it kills me slowly,
    Slowly I could die
And when she sleeps she hears the blues
Sees shades of black and white

no my partner can't find a babysitter. All of the folk I know here in the flatlands have turned straight and most of my mates from the old scene are dead or too old/ill to be bothered with going into town to watch a movie. I may bite the bullet and buy the DVD.

Enjoy emma. It will bring back memories of Punk Stew Days I'm sure.
I helped a mate detox from heroin 11 times over the years. Admitting defeat the last time I sat with him for 5 days and nights of shit and spew. I told him to get referred to rehab, which he did. They put him on Subutex. He still finds the temptation too hard at times. Thankfully many have got clean and moved on. I would think a huge number of ex-addicts will be the first through the cinema doors to view this film, cold sweats and harm slapping. What will the ice addicts of today look back on?

It was great I loved it. I never expected, or wanted it, to be better than the original...and it wasn't..but it was still an excellent movie. Great soundtrack and flashbacks...was kind of like meeting up with old mates you haven't seen for 20 years. Made me want to go out and get off my head on drink and drugs...briefly..

I will hopefully see it soon. The first film was really important for me because it brought back many memories from the late 60's early seventies in Edinburgh. Places and people in the film were all very familiar to back then, same shit, different time. Wouldn't have changed it for the world!

Anyway, lots of appeal to nostalgia fans, an overuse of weird visual effects and a couple of loose ends ... mostly enjoyable, not amazing, but still undecided whether it was worth it or not.

The difference to me was that the first film was gritty and pretty much reflected true life for the average junkie.

The new film was too much of a comedy and not all that believable. The more I process it, the less I think I enjoyed it.

SPOILERS AHEAD, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED (so, be careful how you quote, if you do)

Are you sure, because I'm giving it away here...?

Why weren't they that bothered about being ripped off at the end?

Why leave a reasonably expensive car at the prison gates - that could probably be traced back?

What was all that stuff about the dude in Amsterdam spotting Renton? (sickboy conversation with Begbie)

Why so much nostalgia about the first film?

Why so many visual effects instead of story telling?

How come Renton and Begbie coincidentally arrived in Edinburgh at the same time?

Kelly McDonald's part as a legal whatever seemed to be a token addition

This is exactly what I was worried about with this film Paul. Will give it a watch though and no doubt pass judgement here.
