[QUOTE=cricket;1534552]why the difference?Do you mean wanker=male cruelty.Cuntish =female cruelty?Maybe your experience of woman has biased you a bit?I apologise if my choice of words is not to your liking. I used cuntish as it is a slightly stronger insult. That is all.

Can you suggest maybe something instead?

I don't support foxhunting, but truth is I find it difficult to get murderously worked up about it, especially when kids are starving to death by the thousand. Perspective.

    I wouldn't go that far mate....lol

It's funny, I have lived in the country most of my life and the only people that get worked up about killing are the people that it doesn't affect directly. I had a fox kill 25 out of 27 chickens in my coop one night. He died at the end of a 12 gauge the next night. A very quick death and the only fox I ever killed. I cried at having to do that

I also cried at having to shoot a deer that got hit by a car outside my house and four broken legs, splayed out in all directions.

I have never in my life enjoyed killing any animal. But sometimes it is a necessity.

No doubt Essex is gonna have a hate fest at me now I've admitted killing a fox. Let him.
Funny enough no the deer was a merciful act of kindness and the fox was vengeance at worst, you didn't terrorize the fox first theres the difference.

What is a hate fest?If the fox got in it was because the pen was not fox proof. Is that the foxes fault or the one who had duty of care for the chickens?I hated the fox that got mine too.But it was my fault the predator was able as he only has teeth paws and claws and i had wire nails etc.You could have put them in the freezer where they were destined and built a good coop for the survivors.Revenge killed foxy..The deer thing must of been awfull.

Little sod actually dug up under the floor over several nights I think. It was an old brick outbuilding with a bramble patch behind it and he dug out of sight and came up under the foundation. Dirt floor

The deer episode was the worst thing...bastard wouldn't stop looking at me! I obviously didn't want to cause it more stress or pain so between the eyes it was... I was crying as I did it and puking after.

Didn't go to waste. Butchered it and it was eaten

I'm thinking they will be well over 18 on the grounds that they cost so frigging much to chase these cunning two legged foxes. Also We got to get a run for our money.

Bio engine oil in the field squire. It's all about keeping the temperature up. We've all been told about stiffies, but there's more than one kind best avoided in a crowed.

I may have only given you one groovy, but thats all the site allows. If there was an option,I would offer you ten more.

I have managed farms and if I see a fox has got at the chucks then I do not blame the fox but the owner for not supplying good enough security for their birds. The fox does what is natural for it.

Its like saying a mole is purposely fucking up your lawn !!!!

The pests are these complete pricks taking pleasure in chasing a fox to it cant run any more then letting their dogs-hounds rip it up.

Sorry, but I will never be able to understand how a human can get pleasure out of something so barbaric.

    Civilization indeed, ha ha ha

No. I'm just saying that I don't feel the urge to set dogs on people, or cut their faces off, simply because they indulge in an ancient and until recently widely accepted way of killing a fox. I don't like halal slaughter either, but don't feel the urge to burn down a mosque. I dislike the way the Japanese kill whales "for research", yet I haven't boycotted Japanese goods or punched any tourists.

I do what I can for the planet in my own little way, getting into a frothing rage won't help.

Jumping in here, I would say that the response - even among the few people who have contributed to this thread - is disproportionate to the amount of suffering involved, in a world where cruelty is commonplace, though I'm not doubting the sincerity of the reaction. As if the cruelty to foxes is a token for something else. I suspect it is the ghost of class hatred, from a time which none of us is old enough to remember, though I have known old timers on both sides of the argument who hunted and opposed the hunt in the 1930s and the same attitudes existed then, with more cause as the hunt was less accountable and with local justices being drawn from the hunting classes, more or less had the law on its side.

The ritual cruel execution of a fox would have more meaning to a country person who had lost stock or fowl to foxes than to a townie. It is one of the last blood sports, just about everything else would be illegal now. Though I understand that dog fighting is popular in some parts of the country, as is bare-knuckle fighting. Cruelty and blood-lust is in us all, cricket, like it or not. Is it our political duty to deny and suppress it? Yet for the average hunt follower it is more about horsemanship and socialising than anything and I can't help finding something attractive and wholesome in that side of it.

Political correctness has a lot to answer for, and Labour has successfully politicised the issue, sustaining a class divide into an age which should have outgrown such nonsense.

As somebody sensible said somewhere above, if only drags had the same appeal.

And of course the Tory's have never wished to sustain a class divide..oh no! never ever ever...only Labour..pfft.

Its not about a class war or class hatred its about making 'traditional' cruelty socially acceptable in certain circumstances and for those whom it might benefit.

Since you brought class into this its interesting to note that all the cruel blood sports once undertaken and 'enjoyed' by commoners and peasants -dog fighting, cock fighting, hare coursing etc ) have been shut down as cruel and unfitting occupations of a civilised society and offenders actively pursued -as they should be - and prosecuted.
Whereas -despite being illegal- non of the hunts are actively monitored by law enforcement, let alone prosecuted...its always been business as usual for them.
Equally non of the big estates and landowners feel any need to shut down the barbaric and equally traditional practice of rearing game birds to be driven to the gun.
Millions of pheasant and grouse are reared and shot every year for the fun of it and any of the local wildlife that potentially threatens the gamebird operations are routinely and often illegally culled...kites,buzzards owls falcons rooks crows ravens and ground predators like weasels pine martins badgers etc.
Then we have the managed herds of deer to keep the gentry happy popping off a few of those over a nice social outdoorsy 'tradition'.

I guess youre right it is a class thing...its all about the upper class keeping a tight hold of all their 'traditions' - their cruel blood sports, exclusive land ownership, msintaining their social privilege etc and keeping the damn paupers down where they belong.

Theres a huge ethical chasm between justifying the control of vermin and pests humanely and justifying a multi million £ industry of cruel blood sports for the enjoyment of a well heeled minority on the grounds its a British tradition.

Religious inquisitions and witch burning were a tradition here once, as was slavery and child labour but the country evolved and eradicated those traditions and its long overdue that we eradicate blood sports here too.
Hebridean at heart..everywhere else is just somewhere on the way back there...
