Why did you choose the Nym that you use?

Fascinated by the variety of Nyms used here on UKH and would be very interested to know the story behind why you have the Nym that you use here. Not for any nefarious puropse, just plain curiosity.

Anyone care to share their story please?

The choice of Nym for me was easy, a Red Dragon is my Totem Animal. I have never seen him but have been told by several unconnected people about him. Interestingly perhaps, been drawn to Dragons for a very long time and have quite a few representations of them and read a lot of SF that feature Dragons.

Mine is a loose spoonerism of my middle and last names... it was given to me about 25 years ago, and I rather liked it....

'Cos it's unlikely any one else uses this nym, especially as I got it wrong and mis-spelled it..... Doh!!!
Vinot - Deguingand is an obscure French manufacturer, who made bicycles (and later on) cars from 1898 until 1926.
I delight in the old and obscure , things with wheels and words that make you chortle.
And I very nearly bought one once...... It would always be funny....driving a car called a VD

Thistle marks my Scottish origins and Chained signifies my feelings of being shackled by certain areas of my life..
What gives you the idea that because I have nothing I am unhappy?

Nah, I kept the nickname because I started doing viking re-enactment and it was sort of apt, by the time I had stopped doing the re-enactment, so many people knew me by just that name that it wasnt worth trying to change it.

I wish I could be more imaginative like choosing a mystical name like medusa or pegusus when I sign up but I can't.

I'm very forgetful so don't bother making up cool names and just use my own name.

It's a lovely name, Lennie. Is it short for something?
