At the moment, she's ok. She will go through stages of, 'that bastard bus', 'that piece of crap', 'it's starting to get there' and hopefully end up as 'I'm really pleased with what we have done with her' :-)

Living in a bus should be possible for you one day Maddy, anything can be adapted, and you seem to me to be quite a determined sort of a person. Aim high - and enjoy!

Hello! I blew most of my winters wages on a big old Merc in need of lots of bodywork. It's so very daunting - especially at this starting point....keeping an eye on as many other builds to help me get as much right first time as I can!

    Good luck with that.

I have converted several vans, and a 7.5 tonne removal box, and I stole an awful lot of ideas from looking at other people's builds and build threads - there are very few 100% new ideas, but there are an awful lot of shared and re-used suggestions!

Thanks. The van needs much of the bodywork welding and a full respray. I haven't got the skills/kit to do it myself so having to work and save money for it. Itching to get started now but have to wait till May. ....

Jonny where are you? Maybe somebody can recommend somebody to do the work. Personally I would paint the truck myself, and I have. I painted our LDV with a roller.

The truck is in Cumbria. I've got someone booked in for the welding at 90 a day. I really want the most long lasting paint job I can get....

Well yeah, painting I'll do but if you have a recommendation for South West welders that would be appreciated!
No-one here in town wants to take it on apart from the scene tax 'restorers' who'll charge me half a year's wages to make it ready to be on a magazine cover.

See, whilst i was intending green in my paintjob, I was hoping for something a bit brighter, and less kind of 'paramilitary', but obviously, each to their own!
cant fault NATO green for durability , and as Sootyfoot says, touch up is really easy!

Maybe that's why several of my ex-military friends are so crap at parking..........

a few bubbles spray painted on that NATO green would make it look far less menacing

    Fit!
I love the lt but then I've had a few years to get soppy over their charms. Was just thinking last night that I probably need to part with it for something that meets my needs better, but that I'm already too attached to the cranky old beastie.

Amazing how many threads on Uk hippy end up with a pic of that NATO green Sprinter van in them. I reckon Sooty likes it.

I have just ordered a silver wrap for Ember, means I can do a panel at a time and not have to worry too much about primer and the colour underneath. Comes out at about 200 squids for a LWB van. Cheaper than a spray job.

And they do matt NATO green.

If it comes out nice I may look at it for the big truck. Not green, Matt metallic grey.

So, this weekend, I took some windows out
    Window 4.jpg
Which was a challenge in itself
    Window 3.jpg
Then I put some ally sheet up
    Window 2.jpg
    two sheets on this side
    thumbnail_IMG_1072.jpg
Serious amount of work to do on the inside now!
