    Cool Skin Cancer all clear

MY biggest relief of the year thus far...

I DO NOT HAVE SKIN CANCER!

About a year ago I was given a positive diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma, a relatively harmless type of skin cancer that is usually just removed. I requested a second opinion, and they confirmed this, but told me it was likely to be a more serious "infiltrative" type that would need reconstructive surgery and an area of my face burrowing into!!

I had the biopsy in August, and after delayed appointments and several months of gradually increasing fear (and a weekend of shitting my pants), finally got an "all clear" result about an hour ago! So, basically, it isn't cancer, I'm not going to die and my face will remain intact!

Although, I'm pretty sure they could have just called me and told me several months ago, rather than making me wait 6 months for an appointment

Bluddy hell apaul, you handled that well. That's fantastic news. Can't have been easy at any stage or time.
So now you have your life back, any big plans? Any promises to keep? We defiantly need you to attend Dovedale this year. We owe you a lot and about time we had the chance to show it. You've collected a vast band of brothers and sisters on here and celebrating your good news is something we can all partake in.

No wonder you've been so bitchy lately

You've done really well to hide this from us by the way, you could have been bemoaning all over the forum, but not a peep until today

    Thank you everyone

I'm not a big fan of "airing my dirty laundry" so to speak, and while I did briefly mention this last year, I felt that giving it too much attention wouldn't be the best way of dealing with it -- instead, as usual, I did my best to remain positive and just focus on other stuff until I was 100% sure of the outcome.

It is strange however, considering it was already diagnosed, that the biopsy wasn't to actually confirm it, but to determine what type and course of treatment.

Great news Paul. Unbelievable that they don't let you know sooner whichever way the result goes.

Phew, what a massive relief. Such a pity it took so long for them to find out you were ok.

Nice one m8!!! I also was diagnosed with skin cancer and had a tumour removed from my mouth 19 months ago. I also was positive throughout, despite those around me falling to pieces. I am cancer free now. Let's stay that way, eh Paul!! Toby Trux.
