Ok its 12 n a bit foot long, 7 1/2 wide and 6 1/2 foot high inside. Its a non turbo but seems to accelerate well. Doesnt like going over 65mph though. Turns out its got a leisure battery but no split charger, its been charged in the house and used in the van. I will be getting a split charger for it. Its an oven when the sun is out and a fridge as soon as it gets dark, some one in there infinite wisdom has removed the transit dash and built a bit of wooden crap there instead. Which means ive got no heater, no place for a radio, and everything else a dashboard allows you. I have no idea whats happened to the heater matrix but im going to be reinstalling one.

Most of the insides will be coming out so i can insulate it, its already insulated but its glasswool and polystyrene. I plan on using kingspan and foil bubble and blanking over some of the windows. I also plan on changing the bed from 2 singles to a double across the way. I should gain a couple of feet more space and a decent bed.

I got about 28 mpg out of it coming home sitting between 50 n 60. So its not to bad on fuel.

I saw the dash in the original gumtree ad, it really did look terrible!

Can you get a standard transit dash back in it?

Photos - upload to techpowerup, copy forum link underneath pic and paste into post.

When uploading to techpowerup? Doesn't support bitmaps etc, only jpg, png and gif, maximum 2 meg.

if i can find one in the scrappy i will have a good go at putting it in, apart from the original speedo and temp gauge nothing works. Its all for show apparently.
When i picked it up the fuel gauge was at half, i filled the tank n the gauge went to full and hasnt moved since

    Yep,pics work
I.like the exterior colour scheme, but i agree wtf was he thinking with the dashboard..Youll find a complete dash easy enough, theyre not easy to fit but will look a lot better.

Problem is i need to find a complete one, then take my dash apart to see what ive got and work out what they have done with the heater matrix and wiring. Then i need to get the one from the scrappy out and get all the bits i need, then remember how they go back together

Considering the former owner put in the stuff for show im guessing he hasnt messed much with the original harness. If the worst happens you can buy a new or replacementd dash harness.Theres a few harness makers on ebay if you couldnt find an original.Ive just seen avtransit mk 7 harness and bits for 60 quid.
Im guessing too the heater and ducting is still there hes just removed the dash surround, otherwise hed have had no screen demister or cab heating... but you wont know until you strip all that cladding off.The dashboard will be standard transit usually. The custom body would have been built on around the standard cab transit front end so whatever mk of transit it is thats what youll have to source.
Seems a bit fruitcake-ish to do what hes done but theres a remote possibility theres been damage to the original dash so hes chosen the cheap option..who knows.

I can see where the transit dash starts n stops, driving it home last night it didnt feel like the heater was still there. Theres cold drafts coming in all over the place from behind the "dash". Hopefully its still there and none of the wiring is messed up, first i have to get it mot'd, then sorted out for me n the dog living in it, then i will worry about the dash

What conversion is it? Could be a Dormobile. It might be worth contacting them. I have a feeling that there may be a plastic panel that bridges the standard dashboard and the coach built body.

Wow that dash looks even worse with a better picture, hadn't noticed the astroturf either!

Why would you put a dash like that in "for show?"

Theres a guy down the road whos got, amongst other stuff, a T plate transit quietly sat rotting away in his drive (actually its in next doors drive because his is full!) - if you want ill have a word and see if hes going to break it, and what he'd want for a dash.
